Dr. Jennifer Ron is a board-certified physician in both Emergency Medicine and Integrative Medicine, bringing 25 years of emergency medicine experience to whole-person cancer care. She practices as an Integrative Cancer Care Physician at MedLogic Integrative Cancer Care in Libertyville, Illinois, where she works with patients navigating cancer diagnosis, active treatment, survivorship, and life beyond cancer.

Dr. Ron earned her MD from Rush University and completed her Emergency Medicine residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Over her 25-year emergency medicine career, she worked in emergency departments throughout Chicagoland, including a decade at Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital and the Grayslake Emergency Center. She currently works for Northwestern Medicine in its Immediate Care Centers.

Throughout her career, Dr. Ron has combined patient care with teaching and leadership. She served as an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where she was named Teacher of the Year in 2018. Her previous roles have also included hospice medical director, SANE program medical director, and poison information specialist.

In 2023, Dr. Ron completed the Integrative Medicine Faculty Fellowship through the Osher Collaborative for Integrative Health at Northwestern Medicine and now serves as adjunct faculty at the Northwestern Osher Center. She is also a Certified Integrative Metabolic Practitioner, bringing a deeper understanding of the metabolic, immune, nutritional, and lifestyle factors that influence the body’s internal environment during cancer care.

Dr. Ron is the creator of DPEP, the David Plotkin Empowerment Program, and her commitment to education extends well beyond the exam room. She created the community series “Learning to Heal While Eating a Meal,” focusing on nutrition, stress, sleep, and other foundations of health, and regularly teaches and lectures on integrative cancer care.

She is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and a member of the Society for Integrative Oncology, Integrative Oncology Working Group, and Academic Consortium for Integrative Medicine & Health.

Dr. Ron also brings a deeply personal perspective to her work as both a physician and a cancer patient. Her own experience navigating cancer adds a vital perspective to her understanding of what patients face—not only medically, but emotionally and personally. Through her many podcasts, lectures, and conversations—including “From ER Doctor to Cancer Patient”—she shares her journey while advancing a central mission: that every person affected by cancer should have access to high-quality integrative cancer care alongside conventional oncology treatment.

She is also the author of the forthcoming book, Integrative Medicine for All: A Physician’s Healing Cancer Journey.

Patients who work with Dr. Ron receive the unique dual perspective of a cancer patient and a physician who spent 25 years practicing in some of the highest-stakes areas of conventional medicine. She now brings that same rigor—along with the insight gained from her own cancer journey—to evidence-informed integrative cancer care, nutrition, lifestyle medicine, metabolic health, and supportive therapies.

Her goal is not to replace conventional cancer treatment, but to expand the tools available to patients—empowering them to create an inner environment not hospitable to cancer growth while becoming stronger, more informed, and more supported throughout their cancer journey.
