Frequently asked questions

How do I get started?

What services does MMC provide via telehealth?

MMC provides physician-led metabolic support that complements a patient’s oncology plan. We focus on labs, lifestyle strategy, and evidence-informed options, including supplements and repurposed medications when appropriate. Telehealth is available in 45 states, depending on clinician licensure.

What are repurposed drugs?

Repurposed drugs are medications originally approved for one condition but re-used to treat another. They offer advantages like faster implementation, lower cost, and well-understood safety profiles.

How should I talk with my oncologist about metabolic support?

We encourage transparency. Share your MMC plan with your oncologist so your care team can coordinate safely, especially when combining medications or supplements. Our goal is alignment, safety, and clear decision-making.

What do I do if I have a problem with my metabolic protocol?

Check resources on MMC’s website or pharmacy information. If enrolled with Heal Navigator, their nursing support is also available. If needed, email support@MeakinMetabolicCare.com for further guidance.

Is your practice HIPAA-compliant?

Yes. MMC adheres to all HIPAA standards. Patient data is stored and transmitted via encrypted systems.

Virtual Visits

How often should I have a Virtual Consult with MMC?

Cancer prevention, treatment mapping, and cancer management programs include 1 to 2 physician visits, depending on the service. Additional follow-ups can be scheduled as needed from the Services page. R-MOP is a subscription program with recurring support coordinated through your patient coordinator.

How do I reschedule a visit?

If you’re using Heal Navigator, rebook via their site. You can always email support@MeakinMetabolicCare.com for assistance.

I have new issues before my scheduled follow-up—what should I do?

If with Heal Navigator, contact your nurse to explore quick-turn solutions. For direct MMC patients, you can schedule a sooner follow-up via the service page — we typically accommodate changes within 1–2 days, depending on availability.

Labs & Medications
Which lab values are critical under repurposed drug protocols?

We monitor liver enzymes (ALT, AST), albumin, alkaline phosphatase, BUN, creatinine for kidney function, and CBC for bone marrow health—especially in patients with recent chemotherapy.

Can I get labs through MMC?

Yes, MMC can order lab panels through local Quest draw centers for major programs like MD Predict and C-MOP, often at lower rates than retail. You may also upload existing labs if desired.

Why can’t I just use insurance or local doctors for labs under MMC programs?

You may choose to use your own labs, but they’ll often cost 5–10× more. Plus, many general physicians won’t order the full predictive panels MMC uses.

How will I receive medications?

We prescribe through national specialty pharmacies (e.g. Pharmacy Solutions, Vitahealth Apothecary, Valiant Pharmacy). Some repurposed drugs can also be filled at local pharmacies or via Cost Plus Drugs for standard medications.

Why can’t medications be filled through my insurance or local pharmacy?

Many of our repurposed drugs, like mebendazole, must be compounded and are too expensive in standard pharmacies. They also often require manual handling not supported by insurance systems. We streamline the process by coordinating directly with specialty compounding pharmacies.

How long does it take for medication to arrive?

Typically 2–4 days after your Virtual Consult and payment. For best results, call the pharmacy with your billing and address info. If using Cost Plus Drugs, register online to arrange shipments.

Oncology Nurse Support (Heal Navigator)

Who is Heal Navigator?

Heal Navigator is MMC’s clinical partner, providing a team of oncology-trained nurses and integrative care coordinators who assist with onboarding, scheduling, record management, and ongoing support.

Why does MMC partner with Heal Navigator?

Navigating cancer care can be overwhelming. A dedicated nurse and clinical team help with continuity, logistics, and bridging care between MMC and your medical team.

How do I enroll in Heal Navigator nurse support?

The combined physician + nurse offering is available through the Cancer Metabolic Optimization Protocol (C-MOP). You can enroll directly via the C-MOP page or through HealNavigator.com.

I’m already an MMC patient but want more nurse support—what are my options?

You can opt into additional nursing support via Heal Navigator. To explore this, schedule a 15-minute call with a Heal Navigator patient advocate.
