FOR PEOPLE IN ACTIVE CANCER TREATMENT · C-MOP

Your cancer treatment has a plan. Your metabolic health should too.

“Cancer treatment already asks a lot of you. You shouldn't have to figure out the metabolic side of your care alone.”
~Charles J. Meakin, MD, Founder of Metabolic Care

C-MOP is a 90-day, physician-led program that adds structured metabolic care alongside your existing cancer treatment. Your physician reviews your history and labs, develops an individualized strategy, and your RN and Patient Coordinator stay with you throughout the 90 days to help you follow it.

ONE STRUCTURED PATH FORWARD

DURING TREATMENT

Your oncology team has a plan for the cancer. But there are still a lot of questions in between.

Cancer treatment comes with appointments, scans, medications, and decisions. But many patients are still left trying to figure out what to eat, which supplements make sense, what their labs mean, whether metabolic medications are worth discussing, and who to ask when something changes between appointments.

  1. 01

What should I actually be eating?

  2. 02

Which metabolic markers should I be paying attention to?

  3. 03

Which supplements make sense for me?

  4. 04

Could metabolic medications be appropriate in my situation?

  5. 05

How does this fit with the treatment I'm already receiving?

  6. 06

Who can I ask when questions come up between visits?

C-MOP was created to bring structure to these questions.

A DIFFERENT APPROACH

Your oncology team treats the cancer.
C-MOP supports the metabolic health surrounding your care.

Your oncologist remains responsible for your cancer treatment, imaging, staging, and treatment decisions. C-MOP adds a separate layer of physician-led metabolic care around that work, built from your history, your labs, your current treatment, and the questions that often do not fit into an oncology appointment.

ONCOLOGY CARE

Your Cancer Treatment

Led by your oncology team (outside of Metabolic Care)

Surgery, radiation, systemic therapy, imaging, staging, tumor markers, and cancer-treatment decisions remain with your oncology team.

METABOLIC CARE

Your C-MOP Strategy

Led by Metabolic Care

Your Metabolic Care team focuses on metabolic labs, nutrition, supplements, lifestyle, clinically appropriate medication strategies, and support between appointments.

Two different roles. One patient. C-MOP is designed to work alongside the oncology care you already have.

BETWEEN VISITS

A consultation ends when the call ends.
C-MOP doesn't.

The physician visit establishes your direction. The next 90 days are about helping you understand the plan, navigate questions, monitor what changes, and stay connected to your care team while you're already managing cancer treatment.

YOUR PHYSICIAN

Someone setting the direction

Reviews your history and labs, develops your individualized metabolic strategy, and makes clinical decisions when adjustments are needed.

YOUR RN

Someone to ask

Your dedicated registered nurse answers questions, walks you through your plan, and stays with you between physician visits through secure messaging.

YOUR PATIENT COORDINATOR

Someone keeping it organized

Helps coordinate onboarding, scheduling, labs, pharmacy and supplement logistics, and regular check-ins.

Your physician establishes the clinical direction. Your RN helps you navigate it. Your Patient Coordinator keeps the pieces moving.

YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS

Ninety days.
One structured path forward.

01

START

Build Your Baseline

Complete your intake, connect with your care team, and complete or submit appropriate baseline labs. You start with information, not assumptions.

02

UNDERSTAND

Meet With Your Physician

Your physician reviews your history, current treatment, medications, supplements, metabolic labs, and priorities during a comprehensive consultation. Together, you establish the metabolic areas worth your attention.

03

IMPLEMENT

Put Your Strategy Into Practice

Your individualized plan may include nutrition, lifestyle, supplements, metabolic monitoring, and prescription medications when clinically appropriate. Your RN and Patient Coordinator help you navigate the details rather than leaving you with a document and a to-do list.

04

REASSESS

See What's Changing

Your team stays connected throughout the program, follow-up testing is reviewed as appropriate, and your strategy can evolve based on new information and your physician's clinical judgment.

The goal of the first 90 days isn't to give you more to manage. It's to give what you're already managing more structure.

PROGRAM DETAILS

What's included in your 90 days.

  • Initial intake & onboarding

A 15-minute call with your patient coordinator to set up your portal, order your labs, and establish your baseline.

A 50-minute telehealth visit with your physician to review your labs, your lab-based biological age, and your daily routine. You finish with a written plan you can share with your oncology team.

Handouts, videos, and resources to support lifestyle and nutrition.

PHYSICIAN · CLINICAL DIRECTION

Charles J. Meakin, MD, MHA, MS

Dr. Meakin is a board-certified radiation oncologist with more than 35 years of experience caring for people with cancer, including 24 years as Medical Director of Radiation Oncology at CaroMont Cancer Center.

He founded Metabolic Care to meet patients where they are in their care. After decades in the clinic, he saw how often the questions patients asked most, about food, supplements, labs, and daily life, sat outside traditional cancer-treatment decisions and outside the time an oncology visit allows.

He reviews your history, current treatment, and available laboratory data to develop an individualized metabolic strategy.

SUPPORT · CONTINUITY

Your RN and Patient Coordinator Team

Your registered nurses. They answer day-to-day questions, help you follow your plan, and talk through your medications between physician visits, all through secure messaging.

Your Patient Coordinator handles onboarding, scheduling, lab orders, pharmacy and supplement logistics, and regular check-ins, so the administrative side does not land on you in the middle of treatment.

These are the people who help you carry the plan across the full 90 days.

Questions about C-MOP

What exactly is C-MOP?

C-MOP, the Cancer Metabolic Optimization Protocol, is a 90-day physician-led metabolic care program for people in active cancer treatment. It includes a 50-minute consultation with a Metabolic Care physician, review of your health history and baseline metabolic labs, an individualized written metabolic strategy, and RN and Patient Coordinator support for the full 90 days. C-MOP is delivered entirely by telehealth and is designed to complement a patient's existing oncology care, not replace it.

Does C-MOP replace my oncologist?

No. C-MOP does not replace your oncologist or your cancer treatment. Your oncology team remains responsible for your cancer treatment, imaging, staging, and treatment decisions. Metabolic Care supports integration with your current oncology or primary care providers to ensure alignment.

Who is C-MOP designed for?

C-MOP is designed for adults in active cancer treatment who want structured, physician-led support for the metabolic side of their care alongside their oncology plan. It suits people who want lab-informed guidance rather than general advice, who want help organizing medications and supplements, and who are comfortable with telehealth visits and a direct-pay program. People who have finished active treatment are usually better served by R-MOP, the Remission Optimization Program.

How long does the program last?

C-MOP runs for 90 days. After the first 90 days, you can continue through an optional renewal at a monthly rate. Care plans are individualized and continue for as long as they are medically beneficial.

Who will my physician be?

Your physician is Charles J. Meakin, MD, MHA, MS, a board-certified radiation oncologist with more than 35 years of experience caring for people with cancer and the founder of Metabolic Care. He reviews your history, current treatment, and available laboratory data to develop your individualized metabolic strategy.

What support do I get between appointments?

The program includes RN support and Patient Coordinator check-ins throughout the 90 days, through secure messaging and scheduled calls. Your RN provides education, protocol support, and medication guidance, and brings questions to your physician when a clinical decision is needed.

What medications are prescribed, and are they safe?

No medication is required to join C-MOP. When your physician thinks it will help, they may prescribe low-dose medications that are already approved for other uses and have long safety records, such as metformin or atorvastatin. What is recommended depends on your history, your labs, and the cancer treatment you are already receiving. Your physician reviews every prescription for interactions with that treatment and adjusts it over the 90 days. Prescription costs are separate from the program fee.

Are medications required for everyone?

No. Medications are recommended only when your physician considers them clinically appropriate for your situation. Many patients receive nutrition, lifestyle, and monitoring guidance without prescription medications.

Are supplements required?

No. Supplement recommendations are individualized and made only when appropriate. Supplements are purchased separately and are not included in the program price.

What is included in the price?

A 15-minute intake call with your case manager, a 50-minute telehealth consultation with your Metabolic Care physician, baseline labs with a follow-up panel at three months, and a written plan you can share with your oncology team. After the physician visit you are not on your own. Your nurse and patient coordinator stay with you through secure messaging and regular check-ins for the full 90 days. Prescriptions and supplement kits are a separate cost.

What costs extra?

Prescription medications and supplements are purchased separately. Typical ranges are $100 to $250 a month for medications and $50 to $100 a month for supplements. Laboratory testing costs are billed separately as well.

Are labs required, and can I use results from another doctor?

Baseline labs are necessary. If you have recently completed appropriate labs with another provider, those can be used. Otherwise, Metabolic Care will arrange labs through Quest or another lab partner as part of onboarding.

What happens after the 90 days?

After 90 days, you can continue with C-MOP through an optional renewal at a monthly rate. Your physician reviews follow-up information as appropriate and your strategy can evolve. Care plans are individualized and continue for as long as they are medically beneficial.

Can insurance cover C-MOP?

No. Metabolic Care operates as a direct-pay program. Fees are not covered by Medicare, Medicaid, or commercial insurance, and we do not submit claims or provide referrals. Some patients are able to use HSA or FSA funds, and we can provide receipts upon request. We cannot assist in seeking reimbursement from any private or government health plan.
